Radical Roots Consulting Cooperative is excited to announce that we are having our first Public Kitchen. We were honored to be apart of DS4SI’s Dance Court and Public Kitchen Cohort. As apart of the experience we received an immersive 2-day training on how to imagine, design and collaboratively lead a dance court and public kitchen in our community. Please join us for the launch of our prototype on August 12th at Magazine Beach in Cambridge. The theme of our Public Kitchen is Be Free In Your Body. We will make juices, smoothies and vegetarian rice bowls to strike conversations on healthy eating, the history and role of rice in your family and ways to reimagine the use of public space in our city. The intent of the event is to share knowledge, wisdom and to send you home with a gift and a belly filled with food to nourish you throughout your day.

Offerings:

  • Monica Leitner-Laserna, will be leading cooking demos on a miso-ginger dressing, balsamic dressing, chimichurri and hummus.

  • Make your own spice blend table to remember our kitchen by.

  • Reflections on rice and the role it plays in your family. A sharing of recipies.

  • Make your own fruit smoothies.

Ice coffee and bottled cold beverages will be for sale. Bathrooms available inside.

What is a Public Kitchen? Public Kitchen ask the question:

If kitchens were public - Like schools or libraries - How would that change social life?

Public Kitchen is an intervention aimed at social and food justice - a pop up space that invites people to collectively imagine how vibrant new public infrastructures can improve the quality of our lives. Link to DS4SI DS4SI
